To the Houshold of God, Israel... and those who go with...
by AGuest inmay you all have peace!.
for the first time in close to 15 years, i have not been compelled by our lord to issue an "invitation" on this board regarding the upcoming wtbts "memorial" event.
for many years, i have posted exhortations and reminders as to what our lord said about those "in union" with him and what it takes to be in such union.

Hi Shelby, If I were you I wouldn't go out of my way to attend anything sponsored by the Watchtower Society. You can take communion at anytime or anywhere. All you have to do is find out when a church in your area has it. Some have it once an month or weekly. Some churches several time a week. There is nothing in the Bible that says to do it only once a year. Christians were instucted by Jesus to do this often. I know the term "often" is subjective but when talking about eating or celebrating often isn't once a year anymore than taking a bath once a year would be consider often. So why subject yourself to the Watchtower's once a year theory and why participate in the farcical ceremony put on once a year at a Kingdom Hall?
I have to agree with Wobble on this one. All you are doing by attending is giving this Wactower farce some credibility it doesn't deserve.
Anyway I hope your feeling better. Take care of yourself.

When I was a JW I'd tell people "Because the birthday cake is a symbol of John the Baptist head served on a platter. Look it up!"
Not really but I'm sure what I did tell them made about as much sense.

May 15th WT - Wives Should be Obedient, Submissive & Not Disagree
by flipper inonce again we received the may 15th " witness only " wt from our lurking jw friend.
even though i've been out for over 7 years and haven't attended in that long - i never cease to be amazed at the arrogance of this patriarchal man pleasing wt society in it's dismissive attitude towards women .
it's horrible.

Flipper, I really don't know why women buy this crap in this day and age. It is no wonder some of these women make fun of their husbands behind their backs. Once they are married to them and realize they are being force to take orders from someone who isn't as smart as they are or in some cases just plain stupid it has to be painful. Especially if they are married to one of these clowns who takes his headship very seriously.
Even though all elders aren't like the one Waterspout mentioned who told his son to break his wife behavior like that does seem to be tolerated and in some cases looked up to.

Back when I was a single dubster I rented a house with a "brother" who was separated from his wife. He wanted to get a "scriptural divorce" so he decided to stalk his wife to see if she was have sex with anyone. He'd bought a disquise consisting of a wig and sunglasses and had plans of going to her house and peeking in her windows to see what she was up to. He wanted me to go a long as witness when he caught her in the act. I thought he was crazy and told him no. After living with him about a month I could see why his wife left him and ran for the door myself.
Maybe calling the police is a the best way of dealing with this nonsense. I think if I felt they were watching me I'd put a sign in my window that stated that stalking is illegal and sight whatever statute I could find that would apply.

Christianity has the ability to adapt and change so don't expect to see it go away any time soon. As for the Watchtower they're to stupid to change. They're still worried about the same issues they were 40 years ago like men having beards and women wearing slacks at the meetings. They were founded on the false belief that Christ came back and chose them. Take that away and they have nothing left. They have backed themselves into a corner and have no choice but to keep beating the dead horse. The Watchtower is run by a bunch self-deluded blowhards who think they have all the answers and everyone should take orders from them yet no one give a rats ass about what they have to say. Armageddon is their "I told you so" moment. It's what they live for.

Your going to do ok snowboarder. You're in your prime. A lot of people don't realize that it isn't the truth till they've wasted most of their lives in the organization. Jamie is right go pursue your sports, get an education and eventually the time you spent in the Watchtower will seem like nothing more than a bad dream.

Who's old enough to remember Queen for a Day?
by Nickolas inwhen i was a kid back in the late 50's / early 60's (yes, i am very old, now let's move on) there was a television program that capitalised on the lives of miserable women.
it was my mom's favourie.
each day monday to friday there would be four women on the show, each with a sad story to tell.

I'm old enough I just don't remember it.
Most daytime TV now seems to consist of getting morons to fight with each other.

New Disfellowshipping Policy?
by Madmen ini heard the policy on disfellowshipping has changed, so that you cannot be disfellowshipped if you're not currently "fellowshipping".
does this apply if you're baptised, but haven't associated for over a decade and then choose to speak out in the media (specifically tv) in a way that the watchtower society would consider to be apostasy e.g.
questioning the society's function and/or the very existence of a creator?.

Part of the reason I decided to sent a letter of disassociation when I left the Watchtower was to point out to them they couldn't df me because I had already quit their organization. I used the analogy of a company firing someone who already let them know they quit their job. To me it seemed obvious that it was slander to say you fired someone that quit voluntarily I guess it worked back then because they never tried to df me but then again it didn't change anything because the dubs till avoided me like I had the plague and probably would have been df'd themself if they chose to associate with me.
I don't think it matters much what label they try to put on you also long as they have the rank and file convinced that you are evil and under the power of satan once you leave leave the Watchtower. If they hear you no longer believe it or are speaking against it they won't want anything to do with you. The Watchtower knows that the best way to keep control over its members it dehumanize those who leave and that is what they try to do.
